aber was lange waehrt, wird endlich gut, hier sind die Bilder von den Cu Chi Tunneln:
the entrances are reaaally narrow, no GI could enter as they were too tall...wirklich gaaanz schmal, das ist so ein Eingang, die waren ja kaum aufzuspueren... und ein GI kam da sowieso nicht rein, viel zu gross
this is a trap, one of several different ones made of bamboo sticks etc. they are e.g. called 'bad souvenir traps, because you cannot get rid of the sticks.... or 'doortrap' etc., they swing back and forth....Hier sieht man eine Falle, wie sie die V i e t c o n g benutzten, es gibt tausende verschiedene , ganz fies, sie heissen Tuerfallen oder bad souvenir oder so, weil man die Pfeile nicht mehr abbekommt und die Tuer hin und herschwingt mit den Pfeilen...
...und hier die Tunnel selber! sie wurden allein fuer Besucher vergroessert, sonst koennten wir da selbst im Entenwatschelgang nicht durch. Ausserdem ist es total stickig, stockdunkel, lehmig und sehr sehr beklemmend. Fuer mich persoenlich war es eine Art Mutprobe da reinzusteigen. Wir sind im Entengang da vorwaerts gekommen, es ist total eng. Zum Glueck gibt es waehrend des Weges mehrere Zwischenausgaenge, da haben wir doch gleich den ersten genommen, das hat auch schon gereicht. Ausserdem war es ganz uebel, sobald jemand vor einem gestoppt hat und man quasi am Fleck verharren musste....Kann sich jemand vorstellen, wie man dort unten Jahre aushalten kann, das ist der Wahnsinn!!!
Es gab da unten Kochstellen, Sanitaetsstellen, Lagerstaette, ja sogar Kinos und Schulen soll es gegeben haben. Und natuerlich viele blinde Tunnel, Fallen, Giftschlangen, die runterfallen, wenn man den Mechanismus ausloest etc.
Die Tunnel spielten eine wichtige Rolle im Vietnamkrieg und trugen zum Sieg bei.
...and these are the tunnel, they were widened for tourists, otherwise we wouldn't even get through it anyway. It's totally dark, airless and oppressive.... For me it was kind of a test of courage to 'go' - or rather crawl - through this narrow tunnel... fortunately they have several exits and we took right the first one, that was definitely enough! The worst feeling was when somebody in front of us stopped and you had to stay on the same place...
Can anyone imagine how you can live there for several years, it's just amazing!!!!
They had fireplaces, sanitary places, even cinemas and schools they had. And of course many dead tunnels, traps, poisonous snakes falling down if you release the mechanism etc. ...
